Well, the 3rd PHPQuébec meeting here in Drummondville has just finished. Glad to see that we were 2 more than the last one : 5 (not counting myself).
The subject I talked about was pretty simple, arrays, and I tought it was a really boring subject last night when I was writing my slides. So I decided to initiate all people that would come to the conference by teaching them a little PHP5’s new feature, the SPL. Yeah, I did a mysql resultset class that was accessible like an array. Not that much, but pretty interresting when you’re talking about a easy-to-understand subject like arrays.
I’m maybe gonna post the source code of the class I wrote on this very blog and my slides will be (I hope) available on the PHPQuébec’s website under the «Download» section.
For those of you who were listening to me, please give me your comments and suggestions for the future.
Thanks to all for coming.

I’m learning every day even if I do PHP since 2002-2003 (I don’t remember dates very well :P) and what I must say is that I’m going to make some nice pieces of code in the next… let’s say… summer. Well, what do you want, I’m a busy guy and school and my job are taking all my free time (god I wish I could speak about PHP stuff at some conferences).
Anyway, that’s all for now because I don’t want to reveal my projects (altough they are really simple).
I want to announce the next PHP Québec :: Drummondville meeting will be May 2nd at the Cegep de Drummond around 7 p.m. The subject(s) aren’t decided yet since I’m the only organiser/speaker for those monthly meetings. But I can’t tell that what I’m going to talk about will be very basic stuff (like “Strings In PHP” I did this month).
Hope to see you there ! Invite your friends and parents !

Today I just received an e-mail from Zend.com which told me that I successfully passed the certification exam at the PHP Québec 2005 Conference. The funny thing is that I felt asleep during the test and altough I took 1.5 hours (we have 3 hours max to do it), I passed it.
The next thing to do is to convince all my computer science teachers to do the certification, just for laugh (as I did) and to see if I’m better in PHP than them. As far as I know, only 1 or 2 teachers know PHP well enough to do it, but anyway, it’s not like you need that to have a job. However, I encourage you to spend $200 only if it will give you something in return (except congrats from your boss and teammates at work :P).

During the PHP Québec 2005 conference, I had a very intense need to code. Anything. I would even code my own news module, but it would be useless. Unless, o’ course, I start to use some PEAR packages which would be new to me.
Anyway, I decided to help some friends of mine and me with a new application. It’ll hosts pictures and files for their blog entries (mostly on LiveJournal) instead of getting an account on some free hosting service. “But there’s already FlickR, ImageShack, and everything” you’ll say. Of course there is. But I have some ideas in mind that I’m not telling you for the moment (unless I have a/some comment(s) that tell(s) me to do telling ‘em).
When I’ll finish those idea (in other words, the core of what will be my new application) I’ll tell you through this blog. Hope you’ll stay tuned to know what it is, because I’m pretty sure you’ll like it especially if you’re a programmer.
